Lawrence Black was Fulbright-Robertson Professor at Westminster, 2002-03. When not going to Chuck Berry gigs in St.Louis, he was working on aspects of modern British consumer and cultural politics, with an interest in debates about Americanization. Westminster was a great opportunity to work with some excellent students and faculty, to speak to a wide range of US audiences and to undertake some new archival research. Some of the results of this work will appear in his book Redefining British Politics: culture, consumerism and participation, 1954-70 (Palgrave, 2010). He now teaches at Durham University in the UK and in 2009 was a visiting fellow at Harvard University's Center for European Studies.
